Fallon girl state finalist in national pageant

Fallon’s Addison Hollister is a state finalist in the National American Miss (NAM) Pageant that will take place in Las Vegas from July 14-15.

The 10-year-old Hollister is competing in the pre-teen group for ages 10-12. She enjoys volleyball, basketball, jumping on her trampoline, playing darts with her father, and shopping with her mother. She also likes the arts, dogs and traveling. Hollister found out about the opportunity via some extracurricular online education she was doing with her parents.

“She definitely doesn’t get the public speaking from me,” said Hollister’s father Anthony Hollister. “She’s done a couple plays here locally like Sleeping Beauty. That’s been all her and something she wanted to do … She went to audition for them and everything … She just does really well speaking in front of a group, and she likes the theatrical aspect.”

Contestants can compete in four categories including a community service project, formal wear modeling, a personal introduction, and an interview.

The newly-crowned Pre-Teen Nevada will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses, and air transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California. She’ll also tour Hollywood, as well as represent the state for the year.

Pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 in different age groups. The NAM pageant system is the largest in the nation, dedicated to celebrating America and encouraging its future female leaders. NAM focuses on equipping them with real-world skills to make their dreams a reality, from setting and achieving personal goals to gaining self-confidence and having good attitudes about competition.

Every year, the pageant awards thousands in scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women nationwide. All activities are age-appropriate and family-oriented. NAM also offers optional contests in modeling, acting, other talents and more.
