Elementary school students from three Carson City schools will highlight Capital City Community Band’s annual Salute to Young Musicians concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Bob Boldrick Theater of the Carson City Community Center.

The concert is put on annually to celebrate student musicians from the Carson City School District.

This year’s program will feature choirs from Bordewich Bray, Fritsch and Seeliger elementary schools, who will perform a variety of songs and patriotic music.

The combined choirs, under the direction of Alan Catron, Nicole Melsheimer, and Mary Law, consist mainly of fourth and fifth grade students. The students meet before class to practice for performances around the community.

The program will also include a salute to the armed forces by the Capital City Community Band, which will perform a variety of music from “Peter And The Wolf,” narrated by Richard Stokes, superintendent of the Carson City School District.

Also featured will be a clarinet choir from Carson Middle School and a trumpet trio from the Capital City Community Band.

Admission is free. For more information, go to http:/cccb.weebly.com, or call 775-883-2219.

The Capital City Community Band, under the direction of Richard Doede, is in its 38th year. Following Sunday’s concert, its next performance is at 3 p.m. May 15 in Western Nevada College’s Nugget Auditorium.
