A musical mash up of show girls, gangsters and Shakespeare is coming to the Carson City Community Center this month.
The plays of Williams Shakespeare and the American Musical Theatre come together in Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me, Kate,” a musical Carson High School is going to bring to life March 11-20 at the Carson City Community Center.
The comedy follows the backstage antics of a touring company performing William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” It features feuding couples, gun-toting gangsters, and classic musical numbers.
The show will include the talents of more than 40 Carson High School students working both on and off stage.
Leading the cast are sophomores Wesley Sonnemaker and Melanie Proctor, who play the feuding director/leading man and his leading lady.
Also featured are Chandler Blueberg as the flirty Lois Lane, Kiefer Catron as the gambling Bill Calhoun, and Jacob McNellis and Charles Moser as two bumbling gangsters hired at first to collect on a debt and eventually become part of the show.
Performances are at 7 p.m. March 11, 12, 18, 19, and 2 p.m. March 13 and 20 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre.
Tickets, available at the door, are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
