Something in the Wind, a free kite flying and arts event that celebrates the Washoe Zephyr, will take place at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park May 14-15.

The event will feature expert kite flyers from the Rogue Valley Windchasers kite club in Brookings, Ore. Brett Morris, vice-president and regional director of the American Kitefliers Association, will give a 30-minute presentation on kites at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on both days. The public can bring kites to fly and learn from the visiting experts throughout both days. A limited number of kites will be available for purchase.

Also on both days, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m., elementary-school aged children can participate in several craft projects. A juried artists’ marketplace will offer opportunities to purchase a variety of arts and crafts from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

Admission is free. Soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase, but attendees are welcome to bring a picnic and lawn chairs. Dogs are not permitted. A full schedule of events is at dangberghomeranch.org.
