The Greenwave track and field team finished the regular season with an abbreviated meet just one week before the regional meet.

Weather forced the Fernley Invitational to move from Saturday to Friday but the meet was called off early because of rain. The girls team finished one half point behind Lowry, which took first with 45 points, while the Fallon boys tied for sixth with Dayton with 11 points as Sparks and Elko tied for first with 41.5.

Whitney Skabelund took first in the long jump with 16 feet, 8 inches, while Emily Evett (15-7), Brynlee Shults (15-5) and Cassidy East (15) finished fifth, sixth and eighth. Jordan Beyer scored third-place finishes in the high jump at 4-8 and 100 meters in 13.23 seconds. Leann Stands was fifth in the discus at 96-5 and the 4x200 relay team took first.

The boys were able to finish only six events with TJ Mauga placing fourth in the shot put at 44-5. The 4x200 relay team took fourth and Joseph Terry ran the 1600 in 5:00.15 for eighth.

The regional meet is Friday and Saturday at Yerington High School. The top four in each category qualifies for next week’s state meet in Carson.
