Carson Valley resident C.J. Keith is scheduled to resume his Mixed Martial Arts career on June 17 when he appears on a fight card in Fresno, Calif.

This will end a two-year hiatus for Keith, a 2004 Douglas High School graduate, who’s scheduled to face undefeated Carrington Banks in a 155-pound bout at the Save Mart Center.

Keith will bring an 8-3 record into the fight against Banks (4-0) of Peoria, Ill. This will be Keith’s first ring appearance since losing on Oct. 24, 2014 to Marcus Gaines at Eagle Mountain Casino near Porterville, Calif.

The 29-year-old Keith will be looking to end a three-bout losing streak after opening his career with eight straight victories. His last win came over John Reedy in an Oct. 26, 2011 main event at Eagle Mountain.

His first loss came in June 2012 against Ramsey Nijem in Atlantic City, N.J. That bout was Keith’s first since signing a deal with Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Keith wrestled at Douglas for three years and was a three-time state tournament qualifier and state runner-up as a senior 152-pounder. He was a member of the Tigers’ 2002 region championship team.
