Dr. James Kent and Jason Kent of J&S Land and Cattle, LLC are hosting a Holistic Management workshop on Nov. 19 at their ranch, the Rafter JS, in Gardnerville.

Dr. Kent and Jason Kent practice regenerative grazing practices that promote soil health. The Smiths are leaders of the Jefferson Center for Holistic Management, an accredited Savory Global Network hub serving Northern California and Nevada. The workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will cover the principles of Holistic Management and how to use the planning procedures, tools and decision making processes to significantly increase forage production. The afternoon session includes pasture walks at the ranch and a discussion of management decisions and results. Breakfast treats, snacks, coffee, tea and water as well as lunch by Minden Meat and Deli will be provided.

Attendees are encouraged to wear outdoor apparel suitable for field walks, including a coat, hat and a water bottle. Meet at the Rafter JS Ranch, 600 Artemesia Lane, Gardnerville.
