Suits for Soldiers campaign being held

If you have a gently-used dress suit you no longer need, Farmers Insurance has a use for it.

Through Nov. 30, the insurance provider is conducting its Suits for Soldiers campaign to collect business attire for returning veterans.

Dry cleaned suits for both men and women can be donated locally at any of the six Carson City Farmers Insurance offices.

The district, which has 20 agents and covers all of Nevada except for Reno and Las Vegas, has a goal of collecting 30 suits, but hopes to surpass that, said Brian Andrews, district manager.

The suits collected here will go to a local veterans group for distribution.

The district already has collected 11 suits after getting the word out about the campaign via social media such as LinkedIn and Facebook.

The goal nationwide for the insurance provider is to donate 50,000 suits to help veterans prepare for job interviews and work.

According to the insurance company, more than 1 million veterans will be transitioning from service into the workforce in the next few years.

Farmers was founded by two World War II veterans, John C. Tyler and Thomas Leavey and is ranked in the Top 150 Military Friendly Employers in the U.S. by Victory Media and G.I. Jobs.
