Susan Kay Taylor passed away from cancer, on September 30th, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. While Susan was born in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois on May 1st, 1951, her childhood was spent living next to a lake in Nineveh,

Indiana, where she acquired her love of nature and her independent spirit. Having graduated from CSU, Fresno, she went on to earn her Masters in the Humanities from CSU, Dominguez Hills. In her life, Susan first and foremost was an artist and a teacher. After moving to northern Nevada, she spent many years as Carson High School’s photography and graphic arts teacher, inspiring students to create art and question conventions. After retiring from Carson High School, Susan went on to teach pottery classes at the Brewery Arts Center. In her life, Susan was a potter, weaver, photographer, felter, painter, graphic artist, flutist, gardener, friend, mother and grandmother.


Susan was preceded in death by her farther Lyle, her mother and step-father Dorothy and Walter, and her brother Ron. She is survived by her brother Ken, her two sons Brian and Jason, and her five grandchildren Elizabeth, Joshua,

Aaron, Rosalind and Sawyer.


A celebration of life gathering will be held on October 27th, from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Brewery Arts Center, which is located at 449 W King St, Carson City, NV.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brewery Arts Center of Carson City.
