Helen Theresa Adkisson, Born February 2, 1929, to Alden David Shields And Helen Lucile Noble, passed away peacefully on Oct. 24, 2016.


Helen was a long time Fallon resident not only once, but twice in her life. The first, as a little girl, until she met Bill the love of her life. They married and moved to Los Angeles, CA. They moved back to Fallon in 1990.


If you knew Helen, you knew how hard she worked at everything she did. While living in LA, she worked for the LAPD as a school crossing guard for 15 years. If someone told her it never rains in California, she told them different.

She dedicated her time to the Catholic Church, both in LA and here in Fallon. She volunteered at the Banner Thrift Shop, and spent many hours de-weeding Ronald Way by hand.


Helen was preceded in death by her husband William C. Adkisson; son Richard Lee Adkisson; brother David Alden Shields; sister Barbara Shields Mayne; brother-in-law Doug Mayne; sister in Law Lois Shields


She is Survived by her Son William Adkisson and his wife Cindy of Newhall, CA; Daughter Cathy Blair and her husband Rick of Fallon; and Pepe of Fallon (her DOG); grandchildren, Richard Adkisson, Michael Adkisson, Carrie Adkisson (Colgan), Jeffrey Adkisson, Jennifer Adkisson (Gillespie), Richard Blair and Christine Blair (Kampmann) and their Spouses; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; her brother Michael Shields of Auburn, CA; and sister Aldonna Shields (Beaulieu); brother-in-law Roger of American Fork, UT; and sister-in-law Elaine Teal Shields of Modesto,CA.


Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home at 5 pm on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016


Mass of Christian burial will be Monday Oct. 31, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Church at 11 am. Followed by a Graveside Service at the Fernley Veterans Cemetary at 1:30 PM
