Weekend activities haven’t slowed down with the Fallon Family Fun Day is Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Venturacci Park.

The annual event since 2007 honors National Recovery Month and provides free, healthy activities for all ages courtesy of the New Frontier Treatment Center and Churchill Community Coalition as well as other sponsors.

The gathering will feature a 5K walk/color run, including a $5 photo backdrop opportunity and finishing photo that will be used for next year’s advertisement. The band Southbound Train will play from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by another group. There will be children’s goodie bags, games, raffles, bounce houses, a pie-eating contest, face painting, police dogs and a free barbecue from 11 a.m.-noon.

“These are the kind of activities that are supported by clean and healthy living,” said New Frontier’s Debbie Ridenour. “It’s a little mini circus.”

The Shoshone-Paiute tribe, Walgreens, peer support groups, local fellowships and others will have displays to help families and people in recovery. New Frontier staff will also be available.

Color Blast walk/run registration begins at 8 a.m. and the 5K starts at 9 a.m. Fill out the registration form at www.ChurchillCoalition.com to save time.

Call 775-423-1412 with questions, to donate or volunteer. All proceeds go to New Frontier’s recovery effort.

No dogs or bicycles allowed.
