The New Entrepreneur Network is working to bring businesses and students together.

The group is holding the Biz Partner Round Table for local businesses interested in hiring workers age 18 or under.

“Many businesses aren’t confident about hiring student workers,” said Alex Ellison, executive envisioner at NewE. “We’re interested in a frank discussion about what it would take to create more opportunities for student workers.”

NewE, established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada and the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation, offers a five-week Entrepreneurial Readiness Intensive program in partnership with Carson High School to prepare students to be entrepreneurs.

“The ERI culminates in a Certificate of Entrepreneurial Readiness, designed to let employers know that the student is prepared to proactively contribute to their success,” said Ellison.

The roundtable is being held Sept. 29, 5 to 6:30 p.m., at The Studio at Adams Hub, 177 W. Proctor St.

The Studio, a 1,500 square-foot collaborative work space, opened last month and hosts workshops and classes.
