Carson City Sheriff’s Office: Man arrested on suspicion of animal abuse

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

WEDNESDAY

■ At 1:45 p.m., a 47-year-old transient man was arrested on unlawful torture/harm/abuse of an animal after deputies responded to reports of animal abuse near the 300 block of B Street. Bail was set at $1,000.

■ At 7:17 p.m., Jackie Contreras, 36, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing death warrant after deputies conducted a consensual stop near the Carson Street McDonalds. At the same incident, a 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of violation of alternative sentencing. Bail for the 24-year-old was set at $3,000 and no bail was set for Contreras.

■ At 10:17 p.m., a 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of violation of a suspended sentence and obstructing after deputies conducted a business check at the Edmonds Street Jackpot Casino. Bail was set at $3,300.

■ At 10:26 p.m., Heath Penueta, 36, of Gardnerville, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony parole and probation hold, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after deputies initiated a consensual stop near the 1800 block of Edmonds Drive. Bail was set at $4,100.

The Nevada Appeal only names people arrested on suspicion of felonies and violent crimes. Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call 775-322-4900.
