Northern Nevada Development Authority (NNDA) announced the accreditation of Comstock Mining Inc.’s 98-acre property in Silver Springs as the second Certified Site through the Nevada Certified Site program.

Strategically located, the 98-acre industrial property is situated near the intersection of USA Parkway and Highway 50, as well as the expanding Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC), and the Silver Springs Airport. To achieve the title of Certified Site, the owners of the property had to prove their land met 35 requirements and benchmarks intended to speed up the due diligence period most buyers go through.

The Nevada Certified Site Program is designed to provide critical decision-making information to business owners, developers and site selectors to allow informed, expedited decisions. The designation serves as a pre-qualification for buyers, indicating a property’s title is clear, appropriately zoned, possesses sufficient utilities, adequate transportation access and other critical infrastructure for industrial and commercial uses. It also includes a confirmation that a positive, Phase One environmental assessment has been completed, and other key criteria. The designation ensures a company’s expansion plans won’t be held back by costly delays in permitting and approvals.

“As the industrial vacancy rate continues to decline, the Nevada Certified Site program is becoming even more important. NNDA’s Construction and Design Committee did a great job putting this program together and we expect more sites to be certified and more businesses to use this expedited process for site selection,” said Robert Hooper, NNDA executive director. “We are proud to announce Nevada’s second certified site.”

Comstock Mining’s certified site application was reviewed by members of NNDA’s Construction and Design Committee. With the assistance of Aaron West of the Nevada Builder’s Alliance, Lonnie Johnson of CFA, Inc., and Phillip Childers of Converse Consultants, the site was reviewed and found to have met all of the requirements for certification.
