CCSD meets tonight

The Churchill County School District Board of Trustees meets today at 6 p.m. in the Old High School auditorium (“The Pit”).

The Board will recognize students who placed in the 2017 3A state wrestling competition and the 2017 3A academic state champions.

Items for discussion and possible action include the following:

Approval to authorize the business services director or superintendent to arrange for the sale of general obligation refunding bonds of the district, providing other matters relating thereto and providing the effective date.

Churchill County Middle School staff will report on the Positive Committee’s work to recognize student success and improve culture.

Report on the Churchill County High School Internship Program.

Approval of a new Churchill County High School course: Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles.

Approval to support iNVest 2017, presented by the superintendent.

The board will determine the number of scholarships and the amount of money for the Churchill County Board of School Trustees Scholarship(s) for the 2016-2017 Churchill County High School seniors.

The board will meet in closed session to consider a Level III grievance brought on behalf of Mark Leiser by the Churchill County Education Association. The closed session will include consideration of the character, alleged misconduct, professional competence, or physical or mental health of Leiser. In open session, the board will take action to uphold or deny the grievance.

The board will meet in a closed session to discuss negotiations and strategies regarding Churchill County Administrators’ Association, Churchill County Education Association and the Nevada Classified School Employees Association.
