Literary food and wine tasting

Save the Date! Friday Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

This event has been changed up to include six literary themed tables with a food and wine pairing. Featured wines are available at the event. A fabulous raffle basket accompanies each table. Tickets are $25 and raffle tickets are available for $5 each or 6 for $25. Tickets are available at the library.

Sponsored by the Churchill Library Association (CLA), this event raises funds for additional library programing and materials. Last year the CLA sponsored the Summer Reading Program, Books for Babies and purchased additional furniture for the library.

Summer Reading

Building a Better World continues through July and concludes July 27 with Magician and Juggler Izzy Tooinsky with shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. with a special workshop at 1 p.m. The Summer Reading Program Finale is from 3-4 p.m. and includes cupcake decorating and basket drawings.

Coding Workshops

Learn to code utilizing NCLab (Network Computing Lab) an open public cloud computing platform that empowers future coders, engineers and scientists by providing engaging self-paced and self-graded courses in essential STEM subjects. After your design is complete, print it on a 3D printer. Workshops will be held on July 21 and Aug. 25 from 2-4 p.m. Recommended age is 10 and up. This program is in partnership with the Churchill County District Attorney’s Office and is taught by Deputy District Attorney Joe Sanford.

Story Time

Story time is held each Wednesday and Thursday at 11 a.m. Join us for stories, songs, a craft, and valuable tips to help your child get ready to read.

Knitting Club

Share what you’re working on or get ideas on your knitting project. The Knitting Club meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m.- noon.

New and Noteworthy

“The Widow Nash” by Jamie Harrison — This historical novel is set in Montana tells the story of a woman running from a violent suitor. Beautifully written.

“Quiet Until the Thaw,” a novel by Alexandra Fuller – Two Native American cousins, Rick Overlooking Horse and You Choose Watson, though bound by blood and by land, find themselves at odds as they grapple with the implications of their shared heritage.
