David Slaton, long time resident of Fallon, Nevada, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2017. He was 92.

Born and raised in Branson, Missouri, David left home as a teenager and joined the Navy, serving in the South Pacific on the USS Pennsylvania in World War II.

When he returned, he moved to Nevada where all five of his children were born. He spent most of his career working as a carpenter at the Fallon Naval Air Station. He was a member of the Fallon Church of the Nazarene for over 50 years,

serving his community in many capacities. He especially loved working at the church’s food bank and distributing food to those in need.

David’s wife, Wuanita Slaton, passed away in 2010.

He is survived by his children, Darrell Slaton, Stephen and Loanda Slaton, Paul and Tammy Slaton, Lois Downy and George Freund, and Tim and Tess Slaton; along with dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a gregarious and loving soul, and he will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at Fallon Church of the Nazarene on Monday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome.
