Agriculturist to speak at March’s CEDA breakfast

A state agriculturist is this month’s speaker at the Churchill Economic Development Authority’s Business Council breakfast.

Ashley Jeppson of the Nevada Department of Agriculture will speak on the Food Safety Modernization Act and how it impacts the local community.

Jeppson received a Bachelor of Science in Rangeland Management and Animal Science from the University of Nevada, Reno. She started with the Nevada Department of Agriculture in 2010 as an agriculture inspector and is currently working as an agriculturist who oversees the following programs: Farm to School Food Safety, Good Agriculture Practices, Organic Certification, the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program and the Federal to State Marketing Improvement Program.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture was established in 1915 by Chapter 561, Nevada Revised Statutes.
