Meet me at Bark in the Park

Watson here and tomorrow is the big day! I have waited all year for Bark in the Park, and I’m ready to go! My day will begin with the annual 5K walk/run. We always get there early for registration, which is 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at the Churchill County Fairgrounds. The fee for mom and dad is only $15 per person. But if you have friends it’s $50 for groups of four. Dogs get to walk for free but must wear a leash. The 5K walk/run starts at 9 a.m., and the first 100 to cross the finish line win a medal. I got one last year. Entrance is free to Bark in the Park activities that begin at 10 a.m. There are two dog contests at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and the contests are going to be fun! The hot dog and ice cream eating are my favorites.

After the contest I’ll hit the agility/obstacle course. I hope they give out treats. My next stop is the dog wash. OK, I have to admit that isn’t my favorite, but I want to get my photo taken by Kim Lamb and I want to look my best. Photos will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I look forward to being in the CAPS Happy Endings 2018 calendar. Portraits are only $20. and you get a 5×7-inch print. My mom always preorders a 2018 calendar.

Next stop is the food, and we’ll get something from Rebecca’s Wild Kitchen and Delphine’s Indian Tacos. We’ll also visit 2 Sisters & A Hook, BCCH, Jamberry Nails, Out West Buildings, and Henna Art. I hope they have goodies.

Mom and dad always like to bid in the raffle. There are lots of cool things, so we’ll check that out. CAPS has hats, shirts, hoodies and treats for sale, and we’ll visit them also. Remember, all the money raised from this event goes to support CAPS guests. As you probably already know, because of CAPS I’m in a happy loving home. See you there!

LOOKING FOR A HOME

Sheila is a three-year-old MiniPin/Chihuahua cross. Sheila is special because she was born with only three legs but that doesn’t stop her or slow her down. Sadly, Sheila’s owner passed away, and fortunately she came to CAPS. She is a bit shy at first but bonds well with people, cats and dogs. Come out to meet, her she is delightful

Congratulations to Dickon and Sally who were adopted and have a happy-ever-after home.

Aluminum cans, which we recycle to augment our shelter funds. We are unable to pick up cans because of trailer problems, but please continue to save them.

CAPS will be at Walmart on May 20 with our Kissin’ Booth and an eager smooching pooch. Come by to get your smooch. We will also have caps, short-sleeved T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, so please check them out after you have been smooched.

Flower Tree Nursery will be raffling a 20-gallon tree of your choice on June 15, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. The raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.
