Nine local students will be honored with scholarships and awards from Soroptimist International of Carson City on May 24.
The club’s Scholarship and Girl of the Month Award Luncheon will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in the Brewery Arts Center’s 1864 Grand Ballroom.
Scholarships will be presented to Laura O’Connor, Amber Danielle Nelson, Brenda Beltran Adono, Karla Beltran Adono, Elizabeth Lepe and Menen Ashagrie.
Four Girls of the Month from Carson High School will be honored for their exemplary academic achievements, school activities and community service: Alyssa Woodward; Menen Ashagrie; Megan Tingle and Shaylin Segura.
The meeting is open to the public, with prior reservations required. Seating is limited. There is no cost to attend, however an optional buffet lunch is available for $16.
