Carson City Symphony offers Holiday Treat concert

The Carson City Symphony is presenting a holiday treat for all — a feast of seasonal and holiday entertainment in many styles.

The symphony’s 34th annual Holiday Treat concert will return at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

Tickets are $15 for general admission; $12 for seniors, students, and Symphony Association members; and free ages 18 and under.

Tickets are available in advance at the Nevada Day Store, 716 N. Carson St.; online at CCSymphony.com; and at the door.

The symphony will be joined by the Carson City Symphony Chorus and the Victorian Dancers.

Pre-concert entertainment by STRAZZ youth strings ensemble will start at 3 p.m. in the lobby. STRAZZ will play music from the American String Quartet by Antonín Dvorák.

The symphony, conducted by Music Director-Conductor David Bugli, will perform several works, including The Bells of Christmas, “Dance of the Tumblers” from The Snow Maiden, and Festive Sounds of Hanukkah.

The chorus, directed by Michael Langham, will join with the symphony for Gwyneth Walker’s Rejoice! and Conrad Susa’s A Christmas Garland.

The Victorian Dancers, choreographed by Tiffany Alm and directed by Sonja Radig, will whirl and swirl to the sound of Scott Joplin’s Bethena Rag-time Waltz and Leroy Anderson’s familiar favorite, Sleigh Ride.

The performers and audience will join together for the traditional Holiday Treat finale, A Christmas Sing-along.

The concert is supported, in part, by public funds through a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, and by private donations.
