Free music and more slated at Sierra Place Senior Living in Carson City

The following free events are planned at Sierra Place Senior Living, 1111 W. College Parkway:

Douglas Dynamics — “Douglas Dynamics” is the new image of the select vocal ensemble at Douglas High School. Minden’s award-winning choir will perform at 6 p.m. Dec. 7. The group, under Christi Blahnik’s direction, will sing a variety of holiday songs.

A Magical History Tour — Mark McLaughlin will give the fifth and final installment of a virtual tour of historic sites around Lake Tahoe, including Brockway Hot Springs, Brockway Fire Lookout, the story of Joe King, developer of Kings Beach, Carnelian Bay and the history behind Dollar Hill. McLaughlin’s presentation will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 12.

Children Choir — The Children’s Performance Choir, directed by Tim Nolte, will perform 15 songs with solos, duets and trios at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17. There are 19 children in the choir ranging in age from 7 to 11 years old.

Stringed Beings — A trio from the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing stringed instruments at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 26. The musicians will cover more than 500 years of the world’s most loved and favorite classical melodies.
