Special Olympics Nevada to benefit from shred day event in Carson City

Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors is hosting a community shredding and electronic recycling day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the corner of Curry and Third streets.

The fundraiser will support Special Olympics of Nevada with all donations going toward the athletes.

The suggested donation is $5 per file box (with a maximum of 50 boxes); and $5 for each electronic item.

Accepted electronic items include computers, fax machines, copiers, and tablets. Tube TVs and CRT monitors will not be accepted.

There will be coffee, donuts, and barbecue hamburgers and hot dogs available for $5 each. Raffle tickets will be sold with a chance to win several prizes. Plus, each $5 donation earns a free raffle ticket.

Additional sponsors of this community event include American Document Destruction, based in Sparks, and ComputerCorps, Offsite Data Depot, and Dutch Bros. Coffee, all based in Carson City.
