Officials are searching for a Nevada Department of Corrections inmate who walked away from a work detail Tuesday morning.
Inmate Michael Ariola, 35, of Pershing County, walked away from work detail crews at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning near the Department of Motor Vehicles in downtown Carson City.
Ariola was housed at the Stewart Conservation Camp in South Carson City and was serving a 16 to 72 month prison sentence for possession of stolen property.
He’s described as 5-foot, 10-inches, 185 pounds with hazel eyes and a fair complexion. He has dark hair and a tattoo on his left hand that says “tattoo machine” and a tribal design on his lower right leg.
A retake warrant has been issued and anyone with information on Ariola should contact 911 or local law enforcement.
He was working on a crew that partners with Nevada Division of Forestry conservation camps. The camps are for minimum security inmates who are scheduled to be released within two years and they’re trained to fight wildland fires and are deployed to handle weed abatement, highway cleanup and other jobs in the off season.
