The following are the latest results for the Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Golf Club’s individual stroke play event held on Aug. 15. The tournament also served as the first round of the Club Championship. The second round will be on Aug. 22.

Flight A Net Score: First — Tom Sawyer 63 (wins tiebreaker); second — Bill Hetherton 63; third — Mike Lawson 65; fourth — Bill Allen 66.

Flight B: First — Andrew Warner 60; second — Dennis Justin 61; third — Nick Paul 62; fourth — Mike Andrade 63.

Flight C: First — Marshall McCurdy 65; second — Jeff Surber 66; third — Joe O’Brien 67; fourth — John Pearson 69.

The following are the latest results for the Carson Valley Men’s Golf Course individual stroke play event held on Aug. 12. Each player used 3 clubs and a putter

Flight A Net Score: First — Augie Martinez 69; second — Richard Brown 72; third — Fred Coons 73; fourth – Nick Sutter, Richard Torok, Mike Davis 76.

Flight B: First — Willie Tenney 64; second — Sandy Martin 70; third — Bob Bukar 73; fourth — Roger Hala.

Closest to the pin: Hole No. 1 — John Guidicatti; hole No. 18 — Marc Menezes.


Flag football signups ongoing

The 2018 Carson City Talents NFL Fall Flag Football League is taking signups for its upcoming season. Signups are now being taken at carsoncitynflflagfootballleague.siplay. Coaches and players must also register with NFL Flag Football at at nflflag.com/form/player.

The co-ed league is for ages 10-13. Cost per player is $90 and $60 for coaches’ children. Coaches are needed. Cost includes a reversible jersey, flags, insurance and officials.

League play is tentatively set to begin in mid-September and end before Nevada Day. Games will be played at Eagle Valley Middle School.

Golf tournament to benefit cancer research

A fundraising golf tournament on Aug. 25 will raise money for cancer research and local families in need.

Sign-ups are being taken for the Chip in for Charity – Cancer Research Golf Tournament to be played at 9 a.m. Aug. 25 at Eagle Valley Golf Course, 3999 Centennial Park Drive.

The four-person scramble tournament costs $125 per player. The fee includes green fees, range balls, prizes, a barbecue lunch and silent auction. There also will be mulligans and three hole putting/hole in one competitions.
