William Dennis Klaus, 79, of Fallon has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash that occured on Aug. 25.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash on US-50 at mile marker 80 in Churchill County, approximately 60 miles east of Fallon, near Cold Springs Station.

Preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2004 Toyota Tundra pickup was traveling eastbound on US-50 toward Austin. The driver allowed the pickup to drift out of the travel lane and drove off the highway onto the eastbound shoulder. The driver then steered to the left causing the pickup to travel across both the eastbound and westbound lanes and onto the westbound shoulder. The Tundra overturned and the driver was ejected due to not wearing a seat belt.

Klaus died at the scene. There were no other occupants inside the Toyota pickup. No travel lanes were blocked as a result of the crash.
