The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation announced HopeFest, its annual benefit concert, raised more than $130,000 in net proceeds for cancer patients in need, thanks in large part to the sponsors and hundreds of Carson Tahoe employees who worked for months in advance raising funds.
In total, HopeFest has raised more than $705,000 in direct patient support since it began eight years ago, surpassing the foundation’s expectations.
Proceeds benefit the critical needs of local cancer patients that go beyond the hospital walls, such as gas to get to treatment, no-cost lodging at the Merriner Cottages, and help with insurance co-pays and life-saving medications.
Over the years, HopeFest proceeds have paid more than $166,860 in insurance premiums and co-pays, more than $191,857 paid to mortgage, rental, and utility companies on behalf of patients, and $87,000 has been given to patients in the form of gas cards.
“Year-after-year, it never ceases to amaze me how supportive and spirited our Carson Tahoe and Northern Nevada family is,” said Carson Tahoe Health Foundation Director Kitty McKay. “I am so proud to be a part of this community, and I can’t stress how much of a difference it makes in the lives of so many.”
Hopefest9 is set for Aug. 23, 2019.
