Carson City vehicle burglars identified, arrested

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division has identified and arrested two suspects in numerous Carson City vehicle burglaries. In October and November, the sheriff’s office investigated numerous vehicle burglaries throughout the west and north sides of Carson City. Vehicle windows had been broken out and property was stolen. Surveillance videos from homes and businesses showed a male suspect.

On Nov. 10, two vehicles were broken into at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center at 1600 Medical Parkway. Hospital surveillance cameras showed two suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts and their vehicle, which was later discovered to be a white, two-door 1994 GMC Yukon.

On Nov. 14, the suspects were identified as Carson City residents, Sean Conley and Amy Rodriguez. Rodriguez was on probation for vehicle burglary with the Nevada Department of Public Safety Parole and Probation Division.

On the afternoon of Nov. 14, investigators with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force located Conley and Rodriguez in the GMC Yukon. The pair were arrested in the drive-through of the McDonald’s at Carson Street and Winnie Lane. Conley and Rodriguez were booked into the Carson City Sheriff’s Detention Facility for two counts of vehicle burglary, use of a credit card without owner’s consent and obtaining property under false pretenses. Rodriguez additionally was charged with probation violation.

On Wednesday, a search warrant was obtained to search the GMC Yukon. Property from numerous vehicle burglaries was located in the Yukon. Investigators linked Conley to vehicle burglaries that had occurred on Turner Court, Sarratea Drive, St. George Way, South Sutro Terrace, Medical Parkway, Research Way, College Parkway and East William Street.

On Thursday, Conley additionally was charged with seven counts of burglary, use of a credit card without owner’s consent, two counts obtaining money under false pretenses, two counts felony possession of stolen property and four counts misdemeanor possession of stolen property.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspects and solve these crimes based on tips received through Secret Witness and information provided by Carson City businesses.
