Active COVID-19 cases climb over 800 in Quad County area

Carson City Health and Human Services on Thursday reported 476 new cases of COVID-19 in the last week in the Quad County region.
For Aug. 5 to 11, CCHHS is reporting 476 new cases and 171 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 14,274, with 13,218 recoveries and 235 deaths; 821 cases remain active.

Carson City had 136 new cases, and 44 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 21 new cases per day with a 16.8% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 114 new cases and 59 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 9 new cases per day with a 16.7% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 218 new cases and 66 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 24 new cases per day with a 24.6% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 8 new cases and 2 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 7.7% test positivity rate.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of August 11, 2021, approximately 173,016 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 69,596 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 75,425 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 83,722 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 29,432 residents have been completely vaccinated and 32,427 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 58.83% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 22,855 residents have been completely vaccinated and 24,903 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 51.8% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 22,463 residents have been completely vaccinated and 25,638 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 44.81% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 675 residents have been completely vaccinated and 754 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 16.5% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Those With Symptoms Or Who Have Been Exposed
CCHHS will be hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout the Quad-County Region. Tests are available free of charge, on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.

CCHHS is resuming testing at our building in Cason City. Testing is for those who are experiencing symptoms or who have been exposed and will take place by appointment only!
