2 COVID-19 deaths reported in Carson City

Carson City Health and Human Services on Thursday reported two deaths due to COVID-19 in Carson City for the week starting Dec. 23 and ending Dec. 29.
For the week, CCHHS also reported 257 new cases, and 314 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 22,519, with 17,697 recoveries and 415 deaths; 4,407 cases remain active.

Carson City had 2 deaths, 82 new cases, and 101 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 6 new cases per day with a 4.2% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 76 new cases and 74 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 7 new cases per day with a 10.3% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 99 new cases and 131 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 8 new cases per day with an 8.9% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 0 new cases and 8 additional recovery of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 4.5% test positivity rate.
Quad-County COVID-19 Weekly Updates Stopping
 
This is the final Weekly Quad-County COVID-19 Update. All information provided in the updates can be found on the Nevada Health Response’s Dashboard at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/. CCHHS will provide weekly surveillance reports for the Quad-Counties. CCHHS will continue monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of December 29, 2021, approximately 226,626 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 75,359 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 89,112 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 99,598 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 34,107 residents have been completely vaccinated and 38,121 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 62.7% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 25,974 residents have been completely vaccinated and 28,995 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 54.7% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 28,179 residents have been completely vaccinated and 31,533 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 50.6% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 852 residents have been completely vaccinated and 949 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 20.9% of the population 5 years and older have completed vaccination.
 
Quad-County Breakthrough Cases 
Vaccine breakthrough cases are individuals who test positive for COVID-19 14 or more days after they have completed all recommended doses of an FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccine. A complete vaccination is two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. Since February 1, 2021, breakthrough cases make up 16% of all Quad-County cases ages 5 years and older.
 
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
 
Quad-County COVID-19 Vaccination Events offered by CCHHS are weather permitted. Inclement weather throughout the Quad-County Region may result in time and/or location changes or cancellations.
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen booster doses are available for those who are eligible. Pfizer boosters are now available for those ages 16 and 17 years! Pediatric Pfizer available for those ages 5 to 11 years. COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card or proof of first dose is required for second dose, third dose, or booster dose. To find more COVID-19 vaccination events visit https://gethealthycarsoncity.org/events/.
