The Carson City Library is reopening the physical library building to the public starting Monday, Feb. 22 with hours of operation from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
“Since last year, our staff has worked tirelessly to remain operational throughout the various COVID-19 stages, and we’re thrilled to be reopening the doors to our community with several new improvements and enhancements,” Tod Colegrove, library director, said in a news release. “Closing our doors to the public late last year provided us with an opportunity to make several enhancements to ensure that when the time was right, we’d be ready. We’ve added automated equipment in addition to contactless checkout and new book lockers. Our librarians are eager to welcome our patrons back with our high-quality service and with the enhanced cleaning measures we’ve put into place.”
The upgrades and installations were made possible through Coronavirus Relief Funds funding through Carson City to enable vulnerable populations to safely access library resources.
Additionally, Colegrove added, “To ensure everyone remains as safe as possible, we’ll continue following Gov. Sisolak’s COVID health and safety guidelines for the next 70-plus days and are looking forward to working closely with Carson City for plans starting May 1 when decision making is transferred to local counties.”
With this reopening, curbside pick-up services are suspended, but items can still be reserved and picked up via the book lockers, located outside the front doors of the library.
The library is keeping all events virtual. Virtual programs are listed on the library’s online calendar, and people are encouraged to continue using ebooks and audiobooks from the library’s OverDrive collection.
• Virtual Programs: While in-person events are on hold, the library offers a range of virtual programming held via Zoom and recorded on YouTube. Learn more about the online programs available including registration details by visiting the website calendar directly.
• Digital Resources – E-Books and More: Ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, streaming movies, educational videos and more are available 24/7 through the CarsonCityLibrary.org website by accessing our digital resources including the Libby and OverDrive catalogs. Other E-Resources and information may be found online.
