A suspect in a California homicide was apprehended Friday morning in Carson City, according to a news release from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.
Early Friday, CCSO and state Division of Investigations were requested to assist U.S. Marshals and ATF agents in the apprehension of a suspect in a San Jose, California killing, the release said.
Adrian Laredo, 26, was located in a congested neighborhood near North Roop Street and East Corbet Street, but was in the company of a child under the age of 5. The child is believed to be Laredo’s son.
Although surveillance teams identified Laredo outside of the home several times during the morning, each time he came out of the house he was accompanied by the toddler, the release said. By 11:30 a.m., the joint agency operations leaders determined to use a SWAT team and Laredo was taken into custody at 11:55 a.m. without incident and transported to the Carson City Jail. No injuries were reported.
While the area of the arrest was closed to the public for only 15 minutes, the sheriff’s office had secured the entire neighborhood throughout the morning until the order was given to take him into custody, the release said. The sheriff’s office used social media app platforms to inform residents and businesses in the area to remain inside.
Details of the San Jose homicide were not immediately available. However, agents did inform local agencies that the homicide occurred on June 17 in San Jose. Details suggested two individuals were shot during a robbery, and that one of the two had died from his wounds. Detectives from California had been dispatched to Carson City.
