A Sparks man was killed Monday when his vehicle rear-ended a pickup on U.S. Highway 50 and Casey Road.
A Sparks man was killed Monday when his vehicle slammed into the rear of a stopped pickup truck at the intersection of Casey Road and U.S. Highway 50.
The Nevada Highway Patrol identified the driver, who died at the scene, as Walter Horn, 68.
The NHP preliminary investigation released on Friday shows that Horn’s 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 approaching the intersection with Casey Road. A gray 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was stopped behind a white 2014 Chevrolet Cruze at the traffic light. The NHP said Horn failed to apply braking and then struck the rear of the second Silverado, which then struck the rear of the Cruze.
This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.): NHP Case #210601086.
