State kicks off program to help women farmers, entrepreneurs

The Farm2Food program will provide 10 Nevada women in food and beverage businesses get the tools and training to expand their products into new markets and build their businesses. They will be joined by women from Oregon and Washington in the 15-week online program.
“This program will support these women running small businesses to grow their operations, develop new business strategies and increase their chance of success,” said Jennifer Ott, director of the Nevada Department of Agriculture.
It will also enable them to connect with a community of women farmers, entrepreneurs and food experts to exchange ideas.
“Workforce development opportunities are important for every industry and sector but especially for those that are underrepresented, like women in farming,” said Gov. Steve Sisolak.
The following women entrepreneurs were accepted the program:
• Cortney Bloomer of Rural Health & Nutrition Initiative in Dayton
• Stacy Fisk of Fisk Farm Herbs in Fallon
• Teri and Megan Harasha of Jazi’s Greens in Carson City
• Lyndsey T. Langsdale of Reno Food Systems
• Crystal Leon of The Radish Hotel in Sparks
• Leslie Lotspeich of Lotspeich Family Farms in Deeth
• Eva Sara Luna of Desert Moon Farms in North Las Vegas
• Sara Thomas of NO BS Farm in Fernley
• Evelynn Thompson of Zoot Poultry in Spring Creek
• Betsy Whipple of River Ranch Vineyard in Hiko
