Join Churchill County Museum’s Donna Cossette as she shares her expertise and knowledge of the Toi-Ticutta people.
Working through hands-on projects, she will give step-by-step instructions on the processes used in flint knapping and string making.
Those attending classes will be provided the materials and instructions to complete the project.
Flint Knapping: Saturday, 1- 5 p.m. at the museum. This class is on flint knapping or pressure flaking. Participants will be given a beginner’s kit along with hands-on instructions and techniques in making an arrowhead.
String/Cordage Making: Nov. 13, 1-5 p.m. The second Traditional Lifeways Class will teach you the skills needed to create a traditional string from dogbane. This string was used to create cordage for many useful items such as rabbit nets used for hunting.
