CCHHS: 9 COVID-19 deaths in Quad Counties during week

Carson City Health and Human Services reported Thursday nine deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6.
Five deaths were in Lyon County, three in Douglas County and one in Carson City, surpassing 300 total deaths in the four-county area.
For the week, CCHHS also reported 289 new cases, and 186 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the region. This brings the total number of cases to 19,150, with 14,750 recoveries and 306 deaths; 4,094 cases remain active.

Carson City had 1 death, 100 new cases, and 55 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 13 new cases per day with a 7.6% test positivity rate.
Douglas County had 3 deaths, 52 new cases, and 37 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 5 new cases per day with a 13.3% test positivity rate.
Lyon County had 5 deaths, 132 new cases, and 87 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 17 new cases per day with a 17.7% test positivity rate.
Storey County had 5 new cases and 7 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 10.7% test positivity rate.
 
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
 
As of October 6, 2021, approximately 184,512 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 70,872 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 82,799 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 90,621 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna. This number also includes those who completed the series). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.
In Carson City, 31,923 residents have been completely vaccinated and 34,849 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 63.2% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Douglas County, 24,393 residents have been completely vaccinated and 26,407 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 55.4% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Lyon County, 25,715 residents have been completely vaccinated and 28,524 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 50.6 % of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
In Storey County, 768 residents have been completely vaccinated and 841 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 19.8% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.
 
Upcoming CCHHS Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
 
All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Pfizer booster doses are available for those who are eligible.
