Following five months of outdoor dinner shows at Living the Good Life, the Mile High Jazz Band is bringing its October performance indoors.
The band will perform "Big Band in the Black Box" from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12 in the Maizie Harris Jesse Black Box Theater at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. Patrons may enter through the Artisans Store entrance.
Tickets are $10 per person, and seating is limited. Tickets may be purchased online at milehighjazz.com or may be reserved by calling 775-883-4154. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Doors open at 7:10 p.m. The audience is required to wear masks.
The performance will feature favorite big-band jazz tunes and the vocal stylings of Jakki Ford.
"The band hopes to dazzle you with some new repertoire, plus a number of old favorites,” said pianist and band leader David Bugli.
Trumpeter Bill Melendres will be featured on Dizzy Gillespie's “A Night in Tunisia” and Thelonious Monk's “Round Midnight.” Other solos feature the talents of saxophonists Rich Davis, Jake Xie, and Chris Guerra; trombonists Joe Cadena and Mario Ibanez; and trumpeter Karl Rinder. Jakki Ford will sing “That Old Black Magic,” an upbeat version of “It Was a Very Good Year,” and other vocal classics.
Mile High Jazz Band is supported in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Governor’s Office of Economic Development provided support through its Nevada Pandemic Emergency Technical Support Grant for 2021.
