Smoke from the nearby forest fires has postponed Reno Aces Military Appreciation Night.

According to the Aces and the Vietnam Veterans Association Sierra Nevada Chapter 989 in Reno, the Military Appreciation Night has been rescheduled to Sunday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

The VVA chapter also plans to rededicate its POW/MIA seat, which was unveiled two years ago.

The Reno Aces games against the Sacramento River Cats were relocated to Sacramento due to ongoing and pervasive air quality in the area. According to the Aces, the decision comes after consulting with Major League Baseball and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“While we are disappointed to not be able to entertain our fans this weekend, we wholly support this move to prevent a third consecutive home series from being played under smoke filled conditions,” said Aces president Eric Edelstein. “More importantly, we want to express our heartfelt sympathies to those affected by nearby wildfires and gratitude to those working to extinguish them.”
