4 COVID-19 deaths in Carson, 7 total in Quad County area in past week

Carson City Health and Human Services on Thursday reported seven deaths in the Quad County region for the week of  Aug. 26 to Sept. 1.

CCHHS also reported 815 new cases, and 167 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region – Carson, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties. This brings the total number of cases to 16,154, with 13,758 recoveries and 259 deaths; 2,137 cases remain active.

Carson City had 4 deaths, 234 new cases, and 52 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Carson City is 28 new cases per day with a 13.1% test positivity rate.

Douglas County had 2 deaths, 235 new cases, and 46 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Douglas County is 21 new cases per day with a 21.9% test positivity rate.

Lyon County had 1 death, 343 new cases, and 68 additional recoveries of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Lyon County is 32 new cases per day with a 22.0% test positivity rate.

Storey County had 3 new cases and 1 additional recovery of COVID-19 this week. The current 14-day moving average for Storey County is 0 new cases per day with a 7.4% test positivity rate.

 COVID-19 Vaccination Update

 As of September 1, 2021, approximately 180,674 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered by Quad-County providers. CCHHS has administered 70,288 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Approximately 79,737 Quad-County residents have completed vaccination (received both doses of a 2-dose series vaccine such as Pfizer or Moderna or received the single dose Janssen vaccine) and 87,670 have initiated it (received the first dose of a 2-dose series such as Pfizer or Moderna). Data is not CCHHS’ and is taken from the Nevada Health Response Dashboard which can be found at https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov/.

In Carson City, 31,049 residents have been completely vaccinated and 33,842 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 62.1% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Douglas County, 23,823 residents have been completely vaccinated and 25,766 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 54.0% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Lyon County, 24,145 residents have been completely vaccinated and 27,281 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 48.2% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

In Storey County, 720 residents have been completely vaccinated and 781 have initiated vaccination. Approximately 17.6% of the population 12 years and older have completed vaccination.

All vaccines are available on a walk-in basis at every event for first, second, and third doses for those who are immunocompromised. Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing For Those With Symptoms Or Who Have Been Exposed

CCHHS will be hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout the Quad-County Region. Tests are available free of charge, on a first come, first serve basis; no appointments or pre-registration needed.
