Storey sheriff: Man reported missing April 16 died by suicide

UPDATE, May 3, 3:40 p.m.
Storey County Sheriff Gerald Antinoro said in an emailed statement Tuesday that Alan Corridori, who was initially reported missing April 16 and reported found April 19, died by suicide.
The full emailed statement:
“On April 16, Alan Corridori (63) of Fernley went missing and was subsequently the subject of a Silver Alert by the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. On April 19, 2022, Corridori was located by a hiker in the eastern part of Storey County, in an area commonly referred to as the ‘Sand Dunes.’
“There are still aspects of the investigation that are pending, along with the final autopsy report, but as of this time it appears Corridori died of a self-inflected gunshot wound, from a firearm he purchased a year earlier.”

UPDATE, Tuesday, April 19, 2:15 p.m.
Alan Corridori has been located and the Silver Alert has been canceled, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said in an email.


INITIAL STORY
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday activated a silver alert for Alan Corridori.
Corridori is a 63-year-old white male Fernley resident, according to a news release from LCSO. He is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes and wears glasses, however he does not have them with him, the release said.
He was last seen wearing a small black baseball cap, gray or blue flannel shirt and blue jeans. He was last seen by his family on Saturday, April 16 at approximately 9:30 p.m. when he stated he was heading to bed. He does not have his vehicle, phone or wallet.

A silver alert is activated when an elderly, developmentally, or cognitively-impaired person has gone missing and is determined to be at-risk.
