Update: One dead in Fernley family shooting

Wednesday, Aug. 31 update:
On August 29, at 9:46 a.m., the Lyon County Sheriff's Office received a report of a shooting located in the 900 block of Mesa Drive in Fernley.

The caller advised that a subject had been shot and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

Patrol Deputies responded to the scene and located a subject, later identified as Vincent Eugene Small, who died before deputies arrived.

Information gathered during the preliminary investigation revealed this incident stemmed from a family disturbance and the suspect fled in a vehicle and was reported to be in an adjacent neighborhood.

Additional Patrol Deputies responded to the area of Truckee Lane and located the suspect, later identified as Edward "Eddie" Doyle Small, parked on Stock Lane. A perimeter was established and deputies were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.

After being taken into custody, Edward Doyle Small was transported to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Jail where he remains in custody having been charged with First Degree Murder with the use of a Deadly Weapon.

One person is dead following a family fight in Fernley on Monday, according to a news release from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
Monday at 9:46 a.m., the LCSO received a report of a shooting in the 900 block of Mesa Drive in Fernley.
The caller advised a subject had been shot and the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a subject who had been shot and was pronounced deceased, according to the release. The preliminary investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a family disturbance and the suspect fled in a vehicle and was reported to be in an adjacent neighborhood.
Deputies responded to the area of Truckee Lane and located the suspect parked on Stock Lane. A perimeter was established and deputies were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident, the release said.
A temporary shelter in place order was issued for the neighborhood around Truckee Lane while deputies took the suspect into custody. Main Street, Truckee Lane and Stock Lane were all closed for a short time.
All of the parties involved have been identified and there are no persons outstanding. Detectives are investigating and there is no threat to the public, the release said.
