Complaints from subscribers of having their Appeals stolen from their doors in the early morning are brought to our ear. We have made arrangements for detecting these sneak thieves and upon the apprehension of one of their numbers, we shall have him snake into custody, forthwith, and rammed, jammed, and crammed into the city prison. We mean just what we say.

Complaints come from Silver King Valley that a party of Carsonites who recently visited the valley killed a large number of fish with giant powder. They narrowly escaped arrest, which is to be regretted if they were guilty.

A strike has been made here which makes Tonopah, without a doubt, the richest mining camp in the world. The strike was made at 400 feet on the Mizpah ledge, about a mile east of the original workings on that famous ledge.

The Russell Bros. Circus, in Carson City Saturday attracted and pleased large crowds. Many of the acts were outstanding and sever of them were rated individually as well worth the entire price of admission.

Ever since Mollie Forshay was pardoned out of the penitentiary, we have heard bitter comments upon the action of the pardoning board. She says, we hear that she will suffer starvation rather than return to her old life. We hear that Mollie is an excellent needlewoman. If so, she should find no difficulty in obtaining an abundance of work.

Didn’t like it. A tour list from the lake was shown into the dining room of a leading hotel in this city. He had no sooner taken his seat before a squad of little, willful children began screaming and hauling chairs about the room. The tourist, greatly annoyed, hailed the steward and said: “Show me into the dining room, I don’t want to eat my dinner in the nursery.” Upon receiving a reply that he was then in the dining room, he withdrew to a neighboring restaurant.

It looks to us as if those sandstone blocks at the gates of Capitol square were not going to prove hard enough and solid enough to hold the iron gear of the hinges. We guess that it will be found necessary to substitute granite. The strain will be considerable, and sandstone isn’t the toughest material in the world.

It is said that some Virginia City Englishmen will endeavor to induce the Marquis of Lorne and the Princess Louise to visit the Comstock on their route west. If they are successful, we might be able to detain the royal party here for an hour or two.

Look out for your dog. At the Schulz slaughterhouse, a lot of poison has been scattered for coyotes and hunters who value their dogs had better steer clear of the place. The coyotes have destroyed half a dozen sheep in the past ten days and the poison has been set for them.
