The third annual Homestead Holidays is kicking off at Silver Saddle Ranch from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9-11.

Silver Saddle Ranch is located off Carson River Road on the east side of Prison Hill. It is a historic ranch and part of Carson City’s open space program.

“This makes the perfect backdrop for an old-fashioned country-style holiday celebration,” the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department, which organizes the event, said in a press release.

Buildings, trees, and fences will be decorated with more than two miles of Christmas lights. Activities will include wagon rides, children’s story time from the Carson City Library, live music, a Christmas craft market, children’s arts and craft activities. Santa will attend along with food and drink vendors, and there will be a Christmas tree raffle for charity.

The live music lineup includes Darren Sen on Dec. 9, Sagebrush Swingers on Dec. 10, and the Carolyn Dolan Trio on Dec. 11.

Parking at Silver Saddle Ranch is limited, and overflow parking is available at the Fifth Street Trailhead on the north side of Prison Hill or across Carson River Road at Eagle Valley Middle School. A shuttle is available from the Fifth Street Trailhead.

The event is sponsored by Brian Andrews Farmers Insurance, Carson City Toyota, Allison MacKenzie, Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, Nevada Health Centers, Visit Carson City, Click Bond, Resource Concepts Inc., Kadee Mason American Family Insurance, Mason Electric, and the Bike Smith.
