David Bobzien has submitted his resignation as director of the Nevada Office of Energy.

The resignation will take effect Jan. 2 as the administration of Gov.-elect Joe Lombardo takes over the executive branch.

Bobzien is a former member of the board of regents and a former member of the Nevada Assembly.

He said his focus at the energy office has been the development of Nevada as a leader in clean energy. He has been director for the past four years.

He said he has championed Nevada as a leader in growing the state’s renewable energy on public lands to 25 gigawatts by 2025.

Since he took over the office, he said Nevada has added 2,250 megawatts of renewable energy capacity.
