On Wednesday, Jan. 19, at approximately 9:57 p.m., Troopers with the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division, responded to a single vehicle rollover on US-50 and Churchill County mile marker one in Fallon.

Preliminary investigation shows that a white 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was traveling eastbound on US-50, approaching Churchill County mile marker one. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the Chevrolet to leave the roadway to the right. The driver then reentered the roadway and overcorrected, causing the vehicle to run off the roadway to the right a second time and overturn. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Impairment is suspected.

The driver of the Chevrolet, John Merrill III, a 33-year-old Silver Springs resident, died from his injuries.
