U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., announced Thursday in a news release the award of $32.25 million to pay for 15 projects in Nevada’s Second Congressional District.
He said the list includes a variety of projects including law enforcement, wastewater treatment, airport improvements, highway infrastructure and economic revitalization.
Amodei lobbied as a member of the Appropriations Committee for the funding but he said they aren’t the “earmarks” of old that were full of pet projects and pork. He said they are for “vital community projects” requested by the communities themselves.
The list includes:
• $4.37 million for an upgrade to Fallon’s wastewater treatment plant;
• $4 million for the Coleman Road Connector in Churchill County;
• $3.59 for improvements at the Reno Tahoe airport terminal road;
• $2 million for rural nursing expansion projects at Western Nevada College;
• $1.1 million for Appion Way intersection improvements in Carson City;
• $940,000 to Great Basin College for health science lab equipment;
• $1.38 million to upgrade Kahle Drive in Douglas County for drainage, sewer and water lines and sidewalks;
• $2 million to DRI for Lake Tahoe Instrumentation and Data Sharing.
