BEFORE THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF NEVADA

NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL OF

NEW AND REVISED DEPRECIATION AND AMORTIZATION RATES

AND NOTICE OF PREHEARING CONFERENCE

On June 6, 2022, Sierra Pacific Power Company d/b/a NV Energy (“SPPC”) filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada (“Commission”) an application, designated as Docket No. 22-06015 (“Application”), for approval of new and revised depreciation and amortization rates for its electric operations.

This Notice serves only to notify the public that the Commission has received the above-referenced filing. It is the responsibility of interested persons to review the filing and monitor the proceedings to determine their desired levels of involvement based on how this matter may affect their unique situations. The details provided within this Notice are for informational purposes only and are not meant to be an all-inclusive overview of the filing. The Commission may consider and adopt alternative proposals not contained within the filing but which are related to the subject matter of the filing and supported by substantial evidence.

SPPC filed the Application pursuant to the Nevada Revised Statutes (“NRS”) and the Nevada Administrative Code (“NAC”), Chapters 703 and 704, including, but not limited to, NAC 703.2715 through 703.278 and NAC 703.535. Pursuant to NRS 703.190 and NAC 703.527 et seq., SPPC requests that certain material in the Application receive confidential treatment.

In the Application, SPPC states that the new and revised depreciation rates are reflected in a complete study of depreciation and amortization rates which was completed in April 2022 using plant in service information through December 31, 2021. SPPC requests that the Commission approve the new and revised depreciation and amortization rates to be reflected in SPPC’s revenue requirement for its electric operations. SPPC states that, based on the information and data accompanying the Application, full implementation of the findings of the study will result in an increase to current annual depreciation and amortization expense of approximately $20.9 million.

SPPC states that, coincident with the filing of this Application and in accordance with NRS 704.110, SPPC has filed with the Commission an application to maintain its current revenue requirement for general rates for its electric and common accounts. SPPC requests that these matters be consolidated.

The Commission may approve rates as proposed by SPPC or decrease or increase the rates as necessary to provide that such rates are just and reasonable.

Interested and affected persons may file petitions for leave to intervene pursuant to NAC 703.578 through 703.600 electronically through the Electronic Filing System on the Commission’s website or at either of the Commission’s offices on or before WEDNESDAY, JULY 13, 2022.
