Nevada is joining the Northwest Prescription Drug Consortium, Gov. Steve Sisolak has announced.
Dr. Beth Slamowitz of the state Health and Human Services Department said membership in the consortium operated by Oregon and Washington state should enable Nevadans to get prescription drugs for dramatically lower prices. She said the savings could be up to 80 percent on generic drugs and 20 percent on brand name drugs.
Heidi Murphy of the consortium said they were pleased Nevada will join the other two states in the Prescription Drug Discount Card program through the ArrayRx Card service. She said Nevadans will still be able to use their own drug benefits program if it is cheaper.
Slamowitz said this is a great opportunity for Nevadans who face high prescription costs. She said state HHS officials are also working with the consortium to implement the program to benefit Nevada’s uninsured as well.
All FDA approved drugs prescribed by licensed clinicians are eligible for the discounted prices. Mail and special order drugs are also available. It is free to enroll and available to all Nevada residents.
