Carson City man dies in April 30 crash

A 22-year-old Carson City resident died after a crash on I-580 near North Carson Street on April 30.
According to the Nevada State Police, troopers responded at 4:12 a.m. to reports of a single vehicle crash southbound on IR-580.
The driver of the car, Fernando Flores Medrano, 22, died from injuries sustained during the crash, according to a press release.
Preliminary investigation indicates he was driving a black 2010 Subaru Legacy when it left the roadway to the right, striking the jersey wall. The vehicle then continued left across the travel lanes, struck the inside guardrail and then struck the cable barrier in the median.
The crash is being investigated by the Highway Patrol Division’s Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - Case #220402094. Anyone with information can email ncwmirt@dps.state.nv.us and reference the case number.
