Ahead of the wildfire season, Washoe County is offering free microchipping for horses.
A spokesman said the microchips will greatly improve the chances of being reunited with your horse if they are run off from their corral during a fire.
Washoe Regional Animal Services officials say the service is scheduled for 8 a.m. until noon on June 5. The event will be at the Bartley Ranch Regional Park horse arena. The service is free to all Washoe County horse owners.
